Programme Executive, Ecumenical Water Network, WCC

  • Coordinated the Ecumenical Water Network (EWN) in cooperation with a International Reference Group composed of donors and Regional Ecumenical Organizations (AACC, CLAI, CCA, CEC, etc) for more than 10 years at WCC
  • Raised 100% funds of WCC EWN, including staff salary and infrastructure costs.
  • Advised the WCC Officers and the Central and Executive Committees on Ecumenical Responses on international water policy issues.
  • Helped member churches of WCC in capacity building and advocacy for the human right to water and sanitation, nexus of water with climate change and food security.
  • Under my leadership WCC became a "Blue Community"
  • successfully continuing a campaign "Seven Weeks for Water" during the Lenten period and continuing till date, since 2013.
  • Successfully trained over 100 Eco Ambassadors through the Eco School (2 weeks certificate course) in collaboration with ELCA and REOs in Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, Asia, Pacific, Europe and North America regions.
  • Since 2009, have been attending the COPs under UNFCCC mechanism.
  • Have made WCC EWN a prominent voice on water justice in several UN and international platforms, e.g., UN Water, World Water Week, etc.
  • Launched a monthly digital Newsletter, "Together for Water" with over 3000 subscribers.
  • Have published few books and have written several articles, numerous news releases & blogs on WCC website.
  • Represent as Co-lead of the PaRD (Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development) workstream on Water, Environment and Climate Action.
  • Have been active at World Social Forum, that opposes World Economic Forum.

  • CASA is one of the largest National level Development Organizations and the official social action wing of the Protestant and Orthodox Churches in India, since 1947. With an annual budget of up to 12 millions CHF and its national presence to deal with Emergencies and Rights Based Approach to development is noteworthy.
  • helped drafting the Climate Change Policy, water policy, Safety and Security Policy of CASA
  • Have generated a Disaggregated data on CASA’s work among Dalits and Adivasis (tribals)
  • Was on site for 6 months during CASA's Tsunami relief and rehabilitation programme in South India in 2005 and Sikkim earthquake in 2011.
  • Have undertaken a study on Social Equity Audit of CASA’s Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation Programme.
  • Have organised a series of National Consultations for Church Heads of India, on issues of Right to Information Act, MDGs, Climate Change, Disaster Management, National Water Policy, etc.
  • Was the focal point of CASA for the World Social Forum.
  • Was the focal point of CASA for the Climate Change and water justice campaigns for WCC EWN and ACT Alliance.
