  • Core Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to Migration Health Department staff in the region in vaccination and other public health activities within the project.
  • Design and apply monitoring and evaluation tools for the vaccination Program and the presumptive treatment activities
  • Analyze the data from the different countries in the region to assess coverage of vaccines, prepare monthly reports on vaccine consumption, coverage, and wastage in the region.
  • Develop health education material for both clinical staff as well as all refugees regarding vaccines, assisting in preparing and delivering trainings. Train staff on the best techniques and practices in vaccination.
  • Monitor the Adverse Events Following Immunizations (AEFI) surveillance system, non-vaccinated reports, and Immunization management system in each country of the region.
  • Serve as a principle coordinating focal point for reviewing and following up on the global SOPs, providing clinical advisory and assisting country operations in preparing mission specific evidence-based technical instruction in the area of vaccine administration and delivery.
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator for EPI in various countries to identify gaps in vaccine service delivery in the region.
  • Closely monitor epidemiological situation in the region, assisting in coordination of IOM response activities in respect to outbreaks that occur in the populations considered for resettlement.
  • Recommend changes in vaccine schedule based on epidemiological surveillance in the region.
  • Vaccine forecasting, ordering through UNICEF, receipt, and storage in the regional hub in Nairobi, completion of VAR and organizing its distribution to different countries in Sub- Saharan Africa.
  • Monitor the cold chain supply and management systems in the region and ensure adequate vaccines are available for the refugees departing to different resettlement countries.
  • Assist IOM missions in implementing other expanded health assessment activities related to vaccination for the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, and United Kingdom refugees, in consultation with supervisors.
  • Migration health support officer-Geneva (HQ)
  • Core responsibilities:
  • Support Senior Migration Health Advisor and MHD Headquarters in providing technical support to CDC Cooperative Agreements, in coordination with the CDC Project Officer, Health in Emergencies.
  • Provide advice and support to IOM Regional and Country Offices in project and financial coordination, monitoring and reporting, knowledge management as well as on technical aspects related to CDC project implementation in order to ensure. Quality programming in coordination with the US CDC.
  • Provide support and technical/clinical advisory services to IOM HQ and country offices implementing direct vaccination programs, implemented under the CDC CoAg.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of key documents including Standard Operating Procedures, Program Guidelines, and other documents to support Missions with knowledge management, reporting and future engagements with US CDC in coordination with Country Offices, Ministry of Health (MOH) and CDC Country Offices.
  • Assess, compile, and share effective practices and lessons learned from the project, including providing expert support for project-related data collection, research, analysis, and report writing, such as for monitoring and evaluation indicators, as well as for publications and the production of information sheets.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of CDC CoAg Projects. Design and maintain a relevant quality control/quality assurance framework covering CoAg public health activities. Assess and compile the information and coordinate with relevant colleagues.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation and follow up of donor reports (both financial and progress reports) and budget proposals with CoAg module owners and field missions, including review, consolidation, submission, and tracking Regularly access CDC’s online tool, Grant Solutions, to monitor pending tasks.
  • Strengthen existing and, when necessary, develop new reporting and analytical instruments to describe the performance and cost-effectiveness of the CoAg public health activities.
  • Support field operations in developing and implementing additional public health projects benefiting refugees in resettlement within the scope of the CDC Cooperative Agreement (e.g., surveillance, prevention, health education and clinical trainings).
  • Develop and conduct information sessions for project staff and managers on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Guidelines. Ensure regular conference calls and meetings between IOM and CDC focal points involved in the project implementation.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Financial Analyst and Admin/Finance Officer (MHD) at the Manila Administrative Center (MAC), Finance Officer (MHD) in HQ and regional/country IOM MHD module owners and MHD admin/finance officers, in project creation and closeout, monitoring financial expenditures, budget preparation and financial reporting for the project in coordination with resource management unit of IOM Washington.
  • Represent IOM at relevant meetings, trainings, and conferences and prepare reports on such events.
  • Follow up on the issuance of Notice of Awards from CDC and coordinate the same with IOM Legal Department for review/approval in a timely manner. Follow up with concerned IOM staff on implementation and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the CDC Notice of Award.
  • Serve as PRIMA focal point when creating new CoAg proposals and projects.
