  • Developed an evidence base for UN ITC project entitled ‘Building understanding and participation of developing countries in the green economy' to strengthen awareness at the national and multilateral level of the potential for trade and the business environment to improve strategic priority-setting and trade negotiation outcomes with respect to climate change.
  • Developed an analytical framework and a substantive diagnostic questionnaire for small businesses (MSMEs), focusing on their ability (in selected countries and sectors) to comply with climate-related requirements of regulatory initiatives, climate-disclosure frameworks and voluntary carbon and sustainability schemes.
  • Reviewed and analyzed WTO's trade-related climate measures (TrCM) categories and identified additional relevant broader environmental measures/initiatives (including regulations) with market access implications. Additionally, conducted in-depth review of the documents of the most relevant sustainability schemes and regulations.

  • Formulated sound negotiating positions and effectively raised the profile of Pacific Island countries through rigorous contribution to the WTO fisheries negotiations and other areas of the Doha Round of Trade Negotiations (particularly Anti-Dumping Agreement, Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures; and Non-agricultural market access).
  • Worked as Lead Technical Expert/negotiator for the coalition of 62 African, Caribbean and Pacific Members for two years and as Co-Focal Point of the Small and Vulnerable Economics (SVEs) Group for one year in the fisheries negotiations.
  • In the above roles, contributed extensive research and analysis, helped draft impactful proposals and represented the political coalitions in difficult technical negotiations; successfully negotiated with larger countries towards communicating key interests and finding common landing zones and potential compromise solutions.
