Work History

PhD Student of Transcultural Studies

Universität St.Gallen
01.2021 - Current
  • My ongoing PhD research examines the restructuring of social and family policy following the 2010 take-off of the second Orbán-government in Hungary.
  • Drawing on 14 months of ethnographic fieldwork, my research explores the evolving notions of deservingness, family, and citizenship within contemporary Hungarian society through the measures used by social sector professionals assisting families in crisis.
  • Through a Foucauldian lens of subjectivation, I analyse how recent policy changes influence the practices of street-level bureaucrats, examining both their conformity and resistance to these policy ideals.
